Science & Engineering Projects
Experience interdisciplinary, collaborative, and inspiring science and engineering case studies, guided by PhD researchers and industry professionals. Built to immerse high-school students in design challenges, data analysis, and portfolio-ready presentations
Bioengineering/Biomedical Engineering:
Biomechanics & Tissue Regeneration
About This Project
A 6-week immersive Biomedical Engineering experience designed for high school students eager to explore the intersection of science, medicine, and engineering.
Students investigate biomedical implants through the lens of biomechanics and biology, examining how engineered devices interact with the human body to support healing and restore function.
Guided by Ph.D. and industry mentors, they engage in case-based learning and collaboration to tackle real biomedical challenges and develop research-backed recommendations.
Learning Objectives
Students will build their STEM capabilities through:
Describing & framing biomedical problems
Exploring scientific literature & identifying research gaps
Designing experiments or simulations to test hypotheses
Analyzing data using tools & statistical methods
Communicating findings through mini-papers & presentations
Collaborating with peers and mentors in real-time discussions
Reflecting on their growth and identifying future directions
Program Format
This is a 6-week virtual research simulation from July 14th to August 22nd. Students participate in live mentorship sessions (up to 3 hours each) held once or twice per week, supported by recorded content and independent project work. Students develop and iterate their work with continuous feedback and guidance.
Portfolio- & College-ready Skills
Lasting foundation in scientific approach
Problem-solving
Hypothesis testing & study design
Data analysis & visualization
Scientific writing & presentation
Exposure to research & industry tools (e.g., computer-aided design, simulation, project management, data analytics)
Collaboration & teamwork
Eligibility Criteria
